Job Description & Responsibilities:
Blackstone seeks a Senior Vice President to join its in-house legal team that provides support for the firm’s Real Estate business. This role will focus specifically on supporting the Real Estate Asset Management team and Real Estate portfolio companies on a variety of complex issues with potential material legal, financial and reputational risk. Primary job responsibilities include the following:
Play a key role in providing strategic legal guidance to Blackstone Real Estate and its portfolio companies on a broad range of legal matters, including risk management and crisis response; regulatory and compliance matters; material operational issues; material disputes, litigation and investigations; and sensitive employment and labor law matters
Collaborate with multiple internal and external stakeholders (e.g., Blackstone business teams, Blackstone corporate groups, portfolio company legal teams, outside counsel) to drive consensus on complex, material issues with potential portfolio-wide impact
Effectively brief up and concisely summarize complex legal issues to Real Estate leadership
Play a central role in preventing issues from happening and managing them when they do
Develop and maintain close working relationships with general counsels and legal teams at portfolio companies
Manage portfolio company escalation policies, including development and implementation of standards, playbooks and protocols
Propose and implement creative solutions to drive efficiency and improve processes, with particular focus on effective legal and compliance support across Blackstone’s Real Estate portfolio
Keep abreast of legislative and regulatory updates with potential impact on Blackstone’s Real Estate portfolio and advise on their business impact
Qualifications:
An attorney with 8+ years of experience at a law firm and/or in-house (preferably at a real estate operating company or an asset manager)
Experience navigating sponsor/portfolio company relationships
Familiarity with real estate company operations
Excellent interpersonal and communications skills, including by effectively distilling complex legal issues into commercially actionable guidance
Demonstrated experience liaising with internal and external business and corporate teams on issues critical to corporate reputation effectively drives consensus among a variety of stakeholders
Successfully manages multiple priorities and stakeholders while raising issues in a timely and productive fashion
Manages projects independently and to completion on tight deadlines
Self-starter and creative problem solver interested in working as part of a collaborative team and willing to embrace a variety of responsibilities

Expected annual base salary range:
$210,000 - $275,000Actual base salary within that range will be determined by several components including but not limited to the individual's experience, skills, qualifications and job location. For roles located outside of the US, please disregard the posted salary bands as these roles will follow a separate compensation process based on local market comparables.
Additional compensation and benefits offered in connection with the role consist of comprehensive health benefits, including but not limited to medical, dental, vision, and FSA benefits; paid time off; life insurance; 401(k) plan; and discretionary bonuses. Certain employees may also be eligible for equity and other incentive compensation at Blackstone’s sole discretion.
