The Global Corporate Services (GCS) team at Blackstone services all global offices and lines of businesses across the firm. The GCS team is primarily delineated by its Corporate Real Estate & Strategy (CRES), and Administrative Services departments which deliver services associated with Corporate Real Estate, Workplace Services, Facilities, Design & Construction, Office Services, Conference Center Management, Catering, Dining & Pantry Services. We are seeking a full-time employee to join the team in our New York City office.

Position Objective:

The Assistant Vice President (AVP) of Workplace and Occupancy Planning will assist with occupancy strategy, inclusive of client relationship management, space planning and programming for new builds, restacks, expansions and contractions. Blackstone is seeking an experienced occupancy planning professional that will report into the Workplace Services Manager and will collaborate with other key CRES team members on tactical and strategic assignments, focusing on space management support, utilization and strategic planning for the corporate real estate portfolio. The range of responsibilities this role will encompass include:

Corporate Real Estate – Space Planning

  • Collaborate with the CRES team, business COOs/CAOs, and HR teams to manage and project short and long-term headcount forecasts.
  • Build and maintain space needs modeling for global office and campus locations to optimize space utilization while maintaining end-user satisfaction and reducing overall environmental impact.
  • Develop and deliver executive-level presentations and project justifications.
  • Partner with the IWMS system management team to leverage datasets and metrics to inform recommendations for improvement, new projects, and strategic decisions.
  • Establish and own the tracking and reporting of space and occupancy performance metrics.
  • Drive continuous improvement in occupancy and space processes, including automating data integration for forecasts and utilization metrics while supporting energy-efficient building solutions provided by CRES leadership.

Workplace Services:

Space Utilization

  • Utilize IWMS platforms to design move scenarios for current and proposed office layouts, aligning with Business Unit stakeholders' objectives for relocations and reconfigurations.
  • Collaborate with the IWMS system management team to update floor plans, manage space allocations and move data, and draft proposed floor layouts.
  • Develop staff relocation strategies and document logistics from start to finish with the Move Management team, incorporating strategies for repurposing and recycling furniture and office assets to minimize waste.
  • Maintain communication and stakeholder satisfaction throughout the move lifecycle, including pre-move planning, move day, and addressing post-move issues while tracking strategic savings and environmental impact reduction efforts.
  • Manage and report on FFE inventory in Blackstone’s storage facilities to ensure efficient use and budgeting, prioritizing existing assets over new purchases, and handling dispositions, recycling, and donations.

Workplace Experience Ambassador

  • Partner with the Workplace Services Manager to implement initiatives that improve the workplace experience, focusing on enhancing comfort, amenities, and services for employee well-being and productivity while reducing environmental impact.
  • Collaborate with Business Unit stakeholders to assess and optimize space utilization, ensuring that workplaces are designed for current and future needs, ensuring alignment with global space standards and future needs.
  • Provide program management support within the CRES project delivery team for capital projects, offering regular updates on schedule and design modifications to stakeholders.
  • Exhibit strong, adaptable communication skills, engaging with business leaders to present and advocate for project plans, conduct workplace strategy workshops, and deliver change management presentations that incorporate CRES's new wellness and environmental goals.
  • Support the management of major projects through pre- and post-occupancy studies, surveys, and research, including creating retrospectives to capture and share lessons learned for future project integration.

Role Qualifications

  • Minimum of 8 years of comprehensive experience in corporate real estate and workplace services.
  • Demonstrated expertise in leading workplace services and space planning within a global organization, with experience in sustainability-driven design and occupancy strategies.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and adaptability in fast-paced environments, with a flexible leadership approach to meet changing needs.
  • Strong problem-solving & design acumen combined with advanced program and project management skills.
  • Proven ability to partner with multidisciplinary leaders, delivering a wide range of effective workplace solutions, initiatives, and strategies.
  • Outstanding communication skills, characterized by a confident, decisive, knowledgeable, and proactive approach to advocating for wellness in the workplace and occupancy planning.
  • Commitment to accessibility, responsiveness, and superior customer service, guiding teams to embody these values.
  • Ability to thrive in collegial atmosphere where all opinions are valued and worthy of consideration.

Expected annual base salary range:

$110,000 - $150,000

Actual base salary within that range will be determined by several components including but not limited to the individual's experience, skills, qualifications and job location. For roles located outside of the US, please disregard the posted salary bands as these roles will follow a separate compensation process based on local market comparables.

Additional compensation: Base salary does not include other forms of compensation or benefits offered in connection with the advertised role.
