Position Overview

The Associate will join Apollo’s Sustainability & Infrastructure Group (“S&IG”) in a business strategy and COO role to support the growth and evolution of Apollo’s entire energy transition and infrastructure ecosystem. Apollo’s S&IG team consists of the Apollo Clean Transition (ACT) Private Equity Team (ACTE), Infrastructure Private Equity (AIOF), ACT Private Credit (ACT Capital), and Apollo Infrastructure Company (AIC). Collectively, the S&IG team manages $20bn of AUM across various pockets of capital and targets investments across the risk-return spectrum, focused on energy transition, industrial decarbonization, sustainable resource use, sustainable mobility, and infrastructure broadly.

From a business strategy perspective, the Associate will be tasked with incubating and scaling potential new platforms, evaluating both organic and inorganic opportunities, and helping to craft the overall S&IG strategic vision. The Associate will utilize financial models to evaluate strategic initiatives and measure overall performance; strong Excel and technical skills will be critical to the role. The Associate will be expected to drive creation of internal and external presentations to VIP stakeholders and work directly with Group Heads and Partners. Given the sensitivity and importance of various initiatives, the Associate will be expected to use the utmost discretion, utilize impeccable judgment, and display maturity meaningfully beyond their title.

From a COO perspective, the Associate will work with our Business COO team to support S&IG business leaders in all aspects of managing and scaling S&IG products including financial planning, liquidity management (including evaluating and supporting fund leverage facilities), fundraising, operations, and cross platform initiatives. The Associate will work closely with the investment teams, client and product solutions team, controllers, and other enterprise solutions groups. The Associate should be comfortable managing multiple deadlines across different workstreams, be highly organized and be execution-driven.

  • Support Business COOs in all aspects of business strategy and execution for S&IG:

    • Building/maintaining financial models to evaluate various initiatives

    • Building/maintaining pipeline and portfolio forecast reports

    • Preparing internal analysis and presentation materials

    • Interacting with key internal and external partners and stakeholders

  • Evaluating strategic organic and inorganic initiatives (incl. M&A evaluation, transaction process, valuation)

  • Supporting special projects (Ad-hoc requests from senior management)

  • Support senior investment professionals (Group Heads and Partners) on key portfolio and business management activities

  • Identify and implement data/process enhancements to support day-to-day investment and portfolio management

  • Assist in preparation of marketing material for fundraising and other external communication initiatives

  • Conduct industry research and analytical support for various initiatives

Qualifications & Experience

  • 2-4 years of relevant work experience; investment banking, principal investing (credit preferred), accounting, or consulting experience required
  • Bachelor’s degree from a top undergraduate institution (major in business, economics, mathematics, or engineering preferred)
  • Strong corporate finance knowledge, with experience building and managing corporate financial models
  • Strong modelling, valuation, analytical, and problem-solving skills; highly proficient in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to support communication with internal and external counterparties
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Strong interpersonal skills and maturity with high level of integrity and discretion

The base salary range for this position is listed above. This position is also eligible for a discretionary annual bonus based on personal, team, and Firm performance. Compensation ranges are based on several factors including job function, level, and geographic location. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors including candidate experience and expertise, and may vary from the amounts listed here.
