The Life Sciences team models its approach on Bain Capital’s proven investment method to develop differentiated insight and drive change that enables the next phase of financial and technical/scientific growth for its portfolio companies. The investment process places an emphasis on rigorous analysis of pre-clinical and clinical research, strategic positioning, competitive dynamics, business model sustainability, and management team alignment and capability. The investment professionals of Bain Capital Life Sciences provide significant ongoing strategic and operational support for its portfolio, seeking to not only generate consistently strong returns, but to also enable unmatched value creation by the companies it invests in.

POSITION OVERVIEW

Primarily responsible for the preparation, review, and participation in the following activities for Life Sciences Limited Partnerships:

  • Collaborate with third party fund administrator on the following:

  • Quarterly US GAAP Basis Reporting; annual US GAAP Basis audit.

  • Annual Tax Basis Book Preparation; working with internal tax department and external advisers regarding tax implication of complex investment transactions

  • Quarterly management fee and carried interest calculations.

  • Perform daily trading activities including trade entry, settlement and reconciliation.

  • Perform weekly Fund cash availability analysis to evaluate the need for capital calls, cash distributions, loan drawdowns and repayments.

  • Understand and document investment transactions; work with deal staff and legal counsel on deal closings and harvest transactions.

  • Work with deal staff and Finance team to assist in the preparation of quarterly portfolio company valuations & prepare summarized data for the Valuation Committee.

  • Respond to requests and inquiries of limited partners and their representatives.

  • Work with Investor Relations in preparation of presentation materials, information posted to investor website, fundraising documents.

  • Analysis of various fund activities to ensure compliance with partnership agreements.

  • Work with the Finance team and CFO on projects to enhance the product of the team, department and firm.

  • Other ad hoc responsibilities.

GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • 1-3 years accounting or finance experience.

  • Excellent project management and organizational skills; ability to effectively prioritize multiple projects with the highest attention to detail.

  • Creative problem-solving ability and sound judgment.

  • Strong interpersonal skills with capacity to interact with all levels.

  • Team player.

EDUCATION

  • Bachelors Degree in Finance/Business/or Accounting from a four-year college/university with a strong academic background.
