This position will be a hybrid work arrangement. You will receive 18 remote workdays per quarter to use at your discretion, subject to manager approval. For example, you may choose to work in the office 4 days per week and take one remote day weekly (typically 13 weeks per quarter), leaving 5 additional remote days to be used as needed.

Our Quantitative Investment Science group is looking for a motivated Data Operations Engineer to help produce innovative applications that create competitive advantage for HarbourVest in the Private Equity space. This engineer will contribute to this effort through their focus on source data, data analysis and data quality as well as process automation.

The ideal candidate is someone who is:

  • A self-starter with a love for technology, software application delivery, and mathematical applications!

  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills coupled with outstanding attention to detail

  • A passion for finance and financial markets

What you will do:

  • Own preparing data, testing and deploying financial applications

  • Run and monitor data pipelines and maintain test suites for data upload, data quality and validation purposes

  • Work with Data Engineering, DevOps and Application development teams on integrating automated testing with CI/CD processes

  • Contribute to improve data warehouse pipelines and modeling

  • Contribute to investment model research and design efforts providing deep data analysis

  • Monitor data workflows, troubleshoot failures, and implement alerting and logging.

  • Monitor data and pipeline health through KPIs

  • Own incident response and root-cause analysis for data issues.

  • Assist client partners with data integration, reporting, and tooling where needed.

What you bring:

  • Demonstrated ability in Data Engineering and Analysis

  • Proven experience with data-centric testing and deployment of FinTech based applications, data analysis, data pipelines and ETL for large datasets

  • Proficiency in MSSQL or equivalent SQL RDBMS

  • Proficiency in Python

  • Experience with DBT and Azure Data Factory and Pipelines

  • Experience with MS Synapse and Snowflake desired

  • Familiarity working in a scrum/agile SDLC environment

  • Familiarity with private equity financial data

  • Preferred but not vital: Business Intelligence and experience in Analytics applications

Education Preferred

  • Bachelor of Science (B.S) or equivalent experience

  • Master of Science (M.S) or equivalent experience

Experience

  • 3-5 Years of Data Operations Engineering experience preferred

Salary Range

$132,000.00 - $198,000.00

This USD base salary range represents only one component of total compensation for this role and is provided in accordance with local requirements. This role is eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, which is determined based on individual and overall firm performance. In addition to salary and bonus, total compensation may include eligibility for long-term reward programs and a comprehensive total rewards package that may include retirement, health, insurance, paid time off, and wellness programs. Our total rewards offerings are influenced by several business factors, and eligibility for certain components will vary by position and geography. Please note the posted ranges do not apply outside the U.S. and should not be converted to other currencies as a proxy for compensation in other countries.
