Blackstone is seeking an experienced insurance product specialist to serve as an internal and external subject matter expert for our APAC insurance clients, supporting business development, relationship management and operational matters.

In partnership with the Asia lead for Insurance Strategy and Solution and working closely with Blackstone’s business development (ICS), investment and asset allocation teams providing them with expert insights and technical knowledge to support their efforts in delivering tailored solutions to our insurance clients. This individual will play a crucial role in supporting our engagement with insurance companies throughout the APAC region, preparing asset allocation & portfolio repositioning across asset class and BX strategies, adapting existing analytical tools to the APAC insurance context and delivering impactful insurance strategy presentations. Specific functions will include:

  • Provide technical expertise on APAC insurance regulations and their implications for Blackstone’s products, including capital charges, risk aggregation and reporting requirements.

  • Participate in client projects, assist the team on client analysis and respond to client requests.

  • Contribute to and maintain the financial models and analytical frameworks for portfolio optimization and insurance asset allocation specific to APAC insurance market, considering regulatory capital, investment yield enhancement, accounting implications and balance sheet resilience.

  • Act as a key internal liaison to the BX Asset Allocation team within the Asia Insurance Strategy team to deliver analyses and portfolio construction work.

  • Research and prepare analyses and content on insurance market trends, peer analysis and regulatory updates impacting the Asian insurance market.

  • Collaborate with internal teams including investments, products and relationship managers.

  • Engage selectively with prospective clients delivering presentations and supporting due diligence processes, demonstrating expertise with our APAC insurance clients.

  • Support the development of BX insurance ecosystem (external & internal) in Asia through content production, thought leadership initiatives, market insights and presentations, to position Blackstone as a trusted advisor in the APAC insurance market.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in the asset management industry, with robust working knowledge of local insurance regulations, proficiency on alternative investments and private credit, and serving the APAC insurance market, specifically, Hong Kong, Singapore, Japan, S. Korea and Taiwan. Other markets a plus.

  • Excellent actuarial, investment working knowledge with a preference for hands-on experience with developing insurance solutions across asset classes considering ALM, capital charges (including matching adjustment), risk aggregation and accounting considerations.

  • Proficient understanding of insurance companies’ investment needs and risk appetite. Experience working directly with insurance clients in APAC, understanding their challenges and preferences, is highly desirable.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with exceptional analytical skills, as the candidate will be responsible for delivering comprehensive analysis tailored to APAC insurance clients.

  • Outstanding collaborative mindset with solid work ethic and attention to detail contributing effectively to servicing our clients.

  • Bachelor's degree in quantitative finance, actuarial sciences or a related field is required; MBA or CFA designation is preferred.

  • Financial modelling and Knowledge of programming languages (e.g. Python, MATLAB) are a plus.

  • Mandarin speaker is a plus.
