Bain Capital Credit has a world-class team of over 100 investment professionals with extensive experience analyzing and managing high-yield investments.
We are currently hiring an Associate to work with our Credit Real Estate Debt team in our New York office.
Responsibilities:
Underwrite and analyze commercial real estate debt investment opportunities across multiple asset classes, including multifamily, condominium, hospitality, industrial, office, and retail properties.
Perform industry-level analyses, including market data research, speaking to industry experts, and attending industry conferences to inform the investment process and provide critical context
Develop detailed financial models and investment memoranda to support recommendations for internal Investment Committee review.
Conduct comprehensive due diligence, including market research, property inspections, financial statement analysis, and evaluation of third-party reports.
Make proactive investment/disposition recommendations and effectively communicate views to team members
Monitor and report on portfolio performance, preparing quarterly updates and variance analyses for senior leadership
Research and track market trends, comparable transactions, and macroeconomic indicators to inform investment strategy.
Maintain internal databases to capture market intelligence, transaction data, and loan performance metrics.
Prepare market overviews and thematic presentations for senior management and investment committees.
Learn and adopt the firm’s straightforward investment process, characterized by direct verbal communication and concise written investment summaries supported by in-depth data-driven analysis (i.e., quantitative models of market size/growth, competitive positioning, and financial statements/analysis valuation)
Qualifications:
Outstanding academic background, with a BS/BA from a top-tier institution
2-4 years of post-undergraduate experience in commercial real estate, investment banking, or related financial services, demonstrating increasing responsibility and performance excellence.
Advanced financial modeling and analytical expertise, with mastery of Excel and a strong ability to synthesize complex data into actionable insights.
Deep understanding of commercial real estate fundamentals, including valuation techniques, market trends, capital structures, and deal dynamics.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex ideas clearly and persuasively.
Highly detail-oriented, with strong organizational, time management, and project coordination capabilities across multiple workstreams.
Self-motivated team player, capable of thriving in fast-paced, collaborative, and entrepreneurial environments.
Experience in real estate debt underwriting or related credit analysis, strongly preferred.
Compensation:
Expected Annual Base Salary $150,000 – 160,000
Actual base salary will be determined by a wide range of factors including but not limited to role, function, level, experience, qualifications, and geographic location. In addition to a competitive base salary, this position may be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus based upon factors such as individual impact, team and firm performance.
