Position Summary
As an Investor Services Co-Op, you will spend six months working with the Stamford-based Investor Services team to advance and contribute to a variety of tactical and strategic initiatives related to financial reporting, data analysis, automation, and process optimization This role necessitates strong capabilities in computer science and software programming, combined with an interest in finance, business process transformation, and cross-functional collaboration.
Responsibilities
- Work with complex data models that are substantial in size and require sharp attention to detail. The information generated from these models is used in, among other things, the firm’s capital raising materials, investor reporting and regulatory reporting. Examples include investor portfolio valuation reports and reporting templates, semi-annual LP memos containing high-level portfolio company information, and portfolio reports provided to investors
- Collaborate closely with teams from different functional areas of the organization, such as Technology, Finance and Fund Accounting, to support transformation initiatives and ensure that the processes and systems implemented maintain high standards of integrity and data quality
- Work closely with senior finance team members to enhance reporting deliverables and processes through the use of automation tools and dashboarding software
- Assist in the migration to a new investor portal, including data validation, interface testing, and ensuring consistency of investor-facing reporting
- Assist in the onboarding process of new commitments and investors in coordination with the Legal and Capital Solutions teams
- Optimize data workflows to efficiently handle large datasets, improving processing time and system performance
- Translate technical findings into clear, actionable insights that support investor reporting, fund operations, and senior leadership decision-marking
- Support work involved with editing and reconciling valuation reports created by Tableau and/or other reporting software solutions
- Assist with various ad hoc projects
Qualifications
- Eligible to participate to Northeastern University’s undergraduate Co-op program
- Strong record of academic achievement with a minimum GPA of 3.5 overall and in major (on a 4.0 scale), strongly preferred
- Currently pursuing a degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python and SQL with a strong foundation in SQL and familiarity with data transformation and visualization
- Familiarity with various alternative investment strategies (e.g. Private Equity, Growth Equity, Private Credit, Infrastructure)
- Excellent problem-solving abilities with a focus on attention to detail
- Capable of working both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Effective at prioritizing tasks and setting goals in a dynamic, project-based work environment
- Proactive mindset with a demonstrated interest in automation, process improvement, and operational excellence
Skills
- Strong analytical skills
- Advanced understanding of Microsoft Office tools, including Excel and PowerPoint
- Proficiency in data visualization tools (Matplotlib, Plotly, Tableau, PowerBI, or similar) is a plus
- Experience with ETL tools such as Alteryx, Databricks is a plus
- Ability to manage large datasets and perform complex data processing tasks
- Excellent communication (verbal and written) and collaboration skills, capable of working effectively across various teams
- Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and meet tight deadlines
- Proactive attitude, with an eagerness to tackle new projects and take on new responsibilities
- Ability to break down a process into components and identify areas for improvement
