This position will be a hybrid work arrangement. You will receive 18 remote workdays per quarter to use at your discretion, subject to manager approval. For example, you may choose to work in the office 4 days per week and take one remote day weekly (typically 13 weeks per quarter), leaving 5 additional remote days to be used as needed.

HarbourVest Partners is currently seeking candidates for our 2-year Analyst program in the Primary Investment Group in Boston, MA, starting Summer 2026. Our Analyst program is designed to offer a unique experience that will launch your career through a role dedicated exclusively to the Private Equity and Venture Capital markets. After training, Analysts will be an integral part of HarbourVest’s Primary Team, conducting due diligence on Private Equity and Venture Capital managers and fund opportunities alongside collaborative deal teams, and working on portfolio and pipeline management projects.

As an Analyst on the Primary Team, you will work with collaborative deal teams alongside senior-level investment professionals to conduct due diligence on US Venture Capital, Growth Equity and Private Equity managers. You will meet with managers who are actively raising funds and be responsible for creating detailed analytics that help drive investment decisions. In addition to conducting due diligence, you will be responsible for maintaining our manager pipelines and work on a variety of portfolio management initiatives. At the end of the 2-year Analyst program, you will be well-equipped to continue your career in a variety of roles within the Private Equity / Venture Capital industry.

The ideal candidate is someone who has:

  • Strong work ethic and ability to thrive in a fast-paced work environment

  • Proven leadership skills and ability to succeed working independently and in collaborative teams

  • Strong quantitative skills with a foundational knowledge of Excel

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

  • High level of maturity with ability to multi-task

What you will do:

  • Perform due diligence on Private Equity, Growth Equity and Venture Capital managers and fund opportunities. Diligence investment opportunities through reviewing new partnership offering memoranda, updating the internal database, scheduling and participating in diligence meetings with managers raising capital, and performing preliminary due diligence

  • Conduct in-depth performance analytics on managers and fund opportunities, including proprietary benchmarking analysis, track record analysis and portfolio company underwriting

  • Monitor primary fund investments by reviewing quarterly and annual reports and listening to portfolio update calls. Actively maintain the internal database of Private Equity, Growth Equity and Venture capital fund opportunities in the pipeline

  • Complete special projects for internal usage and client requests, including industry research and market updates

  • Source and refer interesting direct equity, credit and secondary opportunities internally and facilitate/assist with the initial assessment of those opportunities

  • Work to build and expand your personal network and knowledge base through continuing to meet and work with professionals at HarbourVest

What you bring:

  • A strong academic background with coursework in finance, business or accounting

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong quantitative skills with foundational knowledge of Excel

Education Preferred

  • Bachelor of Arts (B.A) or equivalent experience

  • Bachelor of Science (B.S) or equivalent experience

Experience

  • 0-2 Years of internship or work experience in Finance capacity preferred
